What Did We Learn This Month?
Shape magazine: May 2011
What’s happening in the May issue of Shape?
Shape Cover Star for May:
Jillian Michaels, the badass trainer from The Biggest Loser and the author of Unlimited. This five-foot dynamo has a passion to help others to live the best life they can and to that end—she is changing direction from being primarily a fitness expert to more of a “life coach.”
Jillian opens up to Shape about how karate saved her life when she was a teenager, her 1-10 scale for foods (1 is for “superfoods” and 10 is referred to “crap foods that could kill you tomorrow,”) and the fact she has been in therapy with the same doctor since she was five years-old, (Yowza!)
Inside the magazine Jillian offers her favorite 20-minute workout routine and shows off the results in a series of bikinis. See for yourself here!
If you want to win an autographed copy of Unlimited—go to Shape.com/jillian for details.
So what else is inside the May Shape?
"Sun-Sational Protection"
Shape looks at the best sun protection products on the market for the face, for active bodies, and even for your hair.
“Legends of the Fall”
Christie Glissmeyer is a professional kayaker who is the world record holder for “running the highest waterfall” for an incredible 82-foot lunge. This is the stuff my nightmares are made of but Christie loves the challenge and she offers us her tips for taking your fitness to the next level.
“Tinseltown’s Go-To Girl”
Here we have a fun article devoted to celebrity trainer Ramona Braganza who has worked with hot babes like Halle Berry and Jessica Alba and has some cool tips to get more “oomph” from your workout.
"Core Boosters"
If you want “rock star” abs (I am guessing Gwen Stefani vs. Meatloaf) here is an excellent series of core moves created by trainer Keri Schlopy Crockett whose DVD is titled 400-Calorie Fat Blast ($15; amazon.com.)
Keri’s sister-in-law is Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders and she serves as our model. Check out Summer here!
Seriously—get the magazine just for this workout. I am going to use all of these moves in my class!
And now the rest of the best of this issue of Shape:
