What Did We Learn This Month?
Shape: July 2012
Shape Cover Star for July:
On the cover this month is Maria Menounos whom I mainly know from her appearances on Howard Stern (she has a very…um, interesting laugh.) Maria can be seen regularly on the TV show Extra and apparently did very well on Dancing With the Stars a few seasons ago.
Maria watches her weight very carefully since her college days where she gained almost 40 pounds her freshman year. She has kept the weight off by working out regularly plus eating mainly clean, fresh foods which she loves cook from her own garden. Her daily routine includes drinking a cup of hot water on her drive to work which sounds really dull to me but to each their own!
Maria has a “go-to” routine crated by Los Angeles-based trainer Astrid Mcguire which you can see some of here:
So what else is inside the July Shape?
“Take Your Cardio Outside”
Okay, it is a little too hot where I love right now to be outside but normally you can find me biking all summer long. Here are some other fun suggestions to enjoy the great outdoors. Includes a shopping page of “Adventure Essentials” which I thought were pretty cool.
“2012 Shape Snack Awards”
Are you feeling a little hungry and could go for a quick bite about now? Well make sure to check out this year’s Shape list on all kinds of snack-type foods before chowing down.
“H20 on the Go”
Am I the only one out there with a plethora of water bottles to choose from each day? Well, even so these bottles look pretty damn cool and I may have to add to my collection.
"The T & A Plan"
July’s “Workout of the Month” promises “quick results” with this program created by Los Angeles-based trainer Andrea Orbeck that requires a set of weights, a longer resistance band and a weighted ball.
Kathy Griffin
One of my favorite comics talks about dating a 33 year-old guy (she is 51 by the way!) plus the various plastic surgeries she claims all failed her in the end.
And now the rest of the best of this issue of Shape:
• "6 Surprising Diet Slipups” Even the most informed of us can screw up our on how much to eat and when.
• "Don’t Sweat It" Smart strategies to fight sweat stains and more. (Oy vey, I am hot. Is it hot where you are as well?)
• “Ready Set Glow” The best beauty products to help you fake a summer tan.
• “Hot Off the Grill” Celebrity chef Cat Cora offers these yummy Greek meals that have a “healthy California twist” to them. Nom nom!
