What Did We Learn This Month?
Health: March 2013
Health Cover Star for March:
Jillian Michaels--Whoo hoo!
America’s favorite cranky trainer is back with a new book—SLIM FOR LIFE and shows off some major hot moves in the new issue of Health. (The only workout pages we get this month by the way—what gives?)
Jillian is now a busy mom of two, Lukensia (2 ½) and son Phoenix (10 months,) and raises her new brood along with her partner Heidi Rhodes. What the badass trainer didn’t take into account when deciding to become a mom to two kids at once was how she would fit in exercise into her new crazy, busy schedule (Sounds familiar anyone?)
Well, we are all in luck because in this issue of Health because Jillian offers her easiest “Ways (Ever!) to Drop 10 Pounds” as well as her own circuit routine you can do at home. See it for yourself here!
So what else is inside the March Health?
"25 Fresh and Easy Ways to Get Healthier”
All sorts of tips here on how to get your life on a healthier track including nuking the dish sponge (who knew?) dropping your panties (really!) and turning DOWN your iPod ear buds once in a while (gradually losing your hearing sucks.) Check out the magazine for yourself to find out why.
"Exercise-Proof Your Workout”
The weather sucks completely right now and even I, Brooklyn Fit Chick, can lose motivation to go out and get my workout on when my body is screaming for my flannel pajamas and the DVR remote. So I liked these motivational tips on how to get my cold, excuses-making butt to the gym.
"Wine or Waistline”
Did you know that alcohol slows down your metabolism? Especially in the belly where it will help store food as fat? I am not giving up my red wine anytime soon but this is an interesting feature on how to drink mindfully.
“Your Stomach: A User’s Guide”
Having a tummy that behaves can mean the difference between a great day and the worst day of all time as far as I am concerned. So this article was really helpful for me. (Did any of you get that stomach flu that went around last month? The worst, right?)
And now the rest of the best of this issue of Health:
• “Skin Doctors Reveal All” I love me some beauty stories and this one features the best skin doctors in the business offering advice on which products you should get today. (Many available at your local drug store!)
• “How Bad is That Habit, Really?” Do you sleep with your makeup (never!) on or pop your zits (ew)? Find out if your undercover beauty habits are good or bad for you. (And for Pete’s sake-stop popping those zits!)
• "Should You Buy Your Meds Online?” If you have crummy health insurance (like I do) then this article will be really helpful.
• "Pump Up Your Immune System” How to stay healthy when the flu strains reach a Stephen King-like level.

Overall Grade:
B Once again we skimped on workout pages. What is happening with that Health? The rest of the magazine is a smart read, however.
Did you see the new Health magazine? What was your favorite section? How much do you love Jillian Michaels? Or does she scare the living sh*t out of you?
Ox ox,
